I made another model when working from the blender course on Udemy. course link: https://www.classcentral.com/…/udemy-blendertutorial-25552
One of the next models and renders from the course is a Pyramid structure. There was a super simple block house/cathedral thing that I didn’t bother to render that was an exercise for making block models.
As I learn more, I have a slightly better sense of the number of different things involved in these processes.
The models in this course are largely block models and simple colours (more on that in later posts) but the whole 3D art thing has huge fields of knowledge in addition to simple modelling:
Lighting & Composition: how to make a picture interesting
Technical Camera stuff: focal length/aperture/etc.
A good photography background, which you can readily see I don’t have, would help a great deal. Learning how to light shots to look better for the effect (night, upward angle, etc) with bounce lighting and off camera lights sources, etc would make a huge difference to even a simple end result.
